Your post is filled with hypocrisy. Go youtube the context, go listen to the WHOLE clip.
The question: Do you think that the other states should follow suit and legalize gay marriages.
Her answer: I think its great its great that you can choose...<insert the quote that's in the thread>.
No one discriminates her beliefs? *points up at that youtube clip* I beg to differ.
Go listen/watch the clip again. When did she go "I think everyone should be straight and if you're gay, screw you!"? She never said ANYTHING along the lines of "this is what I think and EVERYONE should live as I say so". She even mentions that she thinks its great that people are able to choose. She's for choosing, but ultimately, her belief lies elsewhere, that's all.
Quote:Also, she doesn't even answer the question itself. She only states her opinion how she wants to live her own life, while the question was about other people's lives.
I'll give you that one. She doesnt answer the question regarding if the other states but she DOES address the topic of gay marriages. I dont know about you, but in my opinion, from what I gather from her answer, it can be rephrased to answer the question:
"I dont think that gay marriages should be legalized in other states because the way Ive been brought up, marriages is between a man and a woman, and I feel that should remain the case"
Quote:And if her answer want meant as, all people should live according to my beliefs, even if they have an other belief, that means she's an egoistic religiuous fundamentalist, and not suited to be Miss California.
What makes you any better than her in your standards? You're doing the EXACT same thing she's doing, allegedly.
What're you accusing her of doing? Of imposing her beliefs on others (which I dont think she's doing at all).
What're you doing here? Imposing your beliefs on her beliefs (She's an egotistic religious fundamentalist and not suited to be Miss California because she says that she doesnt agree with gay marriage). Just because you believe that gay marriage is okay, that doesnt mean that everyone else has to believe it too. By insisting that everyone should be okay with gay marriage, what difference is there between you and the "egotistical religious fundamentalist" who's against gay marriage?
ndynslvr Wrote:Here is the thing: some Christians and other religious think that gay marriage is disgusting and immoral...to them a gay person is just as good as a criminal. To them gay people do it because they want to enjoy the lust (they consider lust and sexual feelings unholy UNLESS it is between a man and a woman). They have a reason to believe that, because alot of gay media involves LUST instead of true love where people make actual sacrifices. Lust to them is unholy and is incriminating. They dont want to have their taxes given to those people. I know this because my parents are anti-gay.
Quote:With that said if your religion does not tolerate gay people and you support that religion then you also have the right to say that you dont like gay people.
Here's the thing. I'll say that Im a Christian and Im not afraid to hide it. However, you're not the only one that is disgusted at the way Christians treat others at times. Yes I believe that same sex marriage is wrong. That being said, if someone is gay, Im not going to shy away from them or treat them any different than if they were straight. To me, everyone is a human being and deserves to be treated as thus, regardless of sexual orientation or preferance. I agree, its a shame that many Christians treat gay people as scum and criminals, but not all Christians do so.
Quote:Further more marriage does not necessarily mean love but rather a contract used to gain monetary benefits. These benefits include right choose whether or not a person should be kept on life support, ability to file taxes JOINTLY, ability to raise adopted children. These are all pretty much MONETARY THINGS. If you give any two people ability to marry your giving potentially abilities to make important life decisions. You have to think alot about the rights you are giving to people, and whether or not you want more people to have those rights (not necesarrily because those people love each other). In addition marriage means you can divorce, and ore marriages means more divorces and divorce is where one side gets more money than the other. You are going to give greedy men and women the ability to earn money off marriage. Gay and straight marriage means anyone can marry, and you are gonna give more opportunity for use of legal marriage for ill purposes.
Reminds me of people who get married in game just to APQ for apples, lul.
Quote:I do agree that if she can't think on her own, she's not worthy of winning, but what IS an original belief? I'm certain that most of your beliefs (if not all of them) have already been thought up by some other person that you didn't know about.
From personal experience, I will say this:
I was raised a Christian and for the longest time, I just went with the flow and believed what my parents taught me. However, there did come a time when I questioned it all, threw it all away, challenged it all, and decided that "Hey, this really is the right thing to believe in". I would say that's an <original> belief, in the sense that Im believing it not because someone else wants me to believe it, but rather Im believing it for myself.
If you asked me now what I believed, I'd tell you I believe what my parents believe... does that mean that I cant think for myself? No. It's cause Ive thought for myself and realized what my parents believe is true is true for me as well, and thus I choose to believe it. Who's to say she's never examined it for herself? Who's to say that she hasnt gone through something like I did?
