>_> Most games don't have as big of a hacker problem as MS has had in the past. So it is kind of hard to tell if they are going to want the Deps to patrol or not

rassilon Wrote:Where do you get that? From the announcement at the start of this thread? I don't see it....

What I do see is Nexon saying that their players are their biggest resource, and that is true. It's a resource they haven't yet seen fit to tap, but if they do it properly they could have dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of volunteers ready to help them. Maybe that doesn't mean taking hours each day to chase down cheaters, but it could (and should) mean that some trusted players could have some abilities, as yet unknown, to aid the GMs in that task.

Well, they are saying that the Vol.Dep thing is a program, not a new feature. And just like with tespia, when you sign up for it, you are going there to do a duty.
They also said "Those of you who expressed a desire to help will get your chance", meaning that they are looking for people who actually want to look out for hackers, not just any old schmoe Tongue

Just like how they are talking about brining back tespia, and keeping those who actually do a good job of reporting bugs, I doubt they are going to keep people who don't actually try to get rid of hackers in this program either.
Think about it this way;
You sign up for Tespia to look out for bugs. Who do you think they will keep in the tespia program? The people who are just playing casually and reporting one bug, or the ones who are testing multiple things in order to find bugs?
The same can be said for this. If you sign up for the the Vol.Dep program, do you think they are going to keep the people who help get rid of one person, or those that hunt out hackers?

I doubt it, and I also doubt that that will be the main job of these "Deputies." Maybe I'm wrong; I'll be waiting for their announcement of exactly what's involved.

And you are right, I highly doubt that nexon will expect the deps to ONLY hunt for hackers. But at the same time, if you are only helping to get rid of 1 or 2 hackers a month, what do you think are the chances they will keep you in this program?
