Personally, I just got to the first gym but didn't go in yet. I'm actually raising a Bidoof this time (and no Shinx or Budew), but she'll probably end up as the HM mule as I move on. I must say that even though they only added a little shading to the move selection window, it looks way better than before. I hope they upped the speed of swimming back to the 3rd gen speed.
No, it really does take 10 hours. There's a feature if you make talking speed 0 (I think) it just instantly shows up. I have all these settings and etc set up for a speed run's case. So before I start the game, text speed: instant, and does not show Pokemon attacks/effects etc.
On Topic:
I transfered my diamond Pokemon I'm currently EV training. I swear the platinum Elite four (with the higher leveled Pokemon) does me good <3.
Speed run in older Pokemon games such as B/R/Y takes longer because of the no running feature plus a higher leveled elite four.
G/S/C takes awhile to get up to red, but if you consider 8 badges and the elite four in that game beating it, it takes 8 hours with a like level 60 Typloshion and a few other scapegoat Pokemon.
R/S/E was just really easy in my opinion. I mean come on, level 58 max on elite four -_-. EMERALD was just sad. I liked the type differences in the final boss, but it turns out to be all water Pokemon.
