The monsters they leech off of also happen to be popular training spots. Having a leecher there makes a map that can support 3-4 people into a two-player map. They also tend to stay for longer than the average player, in blocks of 4 hours each.

This is patently absurd - most leechers are piggybacking off people who would already be in that map for that period and take up the exact same number of mobs whether they have a leech hanging on the rope or not.
