aye theres a science to it, stand closer to the monster you want it to attack, regardless of whether its in the front or back. This process becomes 1000 times easier once you have Dragon pulse (or breath as it's called...but pulse is cooler).

Seeing as you can pulse away the 4 skelegons in front of you, leaving the one behind you to be stunned while you storm the living hell out of the other four.

you're probably just standing too close to the monster in front of you. It simply attacks the closest. Just make sure the monster behind you is litterally RIGHT next to you, and then as long as you're still able to fire at the monsters in front of you, you'll be fine.
