Ah, but I'm not saying anything about the church exactly, just that the reason to be good, for jerkasses, is just to fear to be punished for all eternity. Not because you should love your brother and that, but because YOU will suffer. They will still hate everyone, but they'll have to behave correctly to not become hell bait. As a stretch, they can end up saying "pineapple this, I don't care about hell anymore" and be the greatests jerks ever easier than a good guy ends up saying that.
