They could have a monthly event where during the first weekend of the month, fire/lightning gets a boost for 12 hours, then ice/poison, and so on. In order to make it fair, though, they have to alternate each month - e.g. next month ice/poison starts first instead. That way no one gets ripped from their playing times.
Ice/poison doesn't make a whole lot of sense thematically, though. There aren't any poisonbenders in Avatar... though I guess you could argue that liquid poisons are bendable..
- Hm, monster elemental attacks would have to be boosted too... heh heh
