When is it okay for a man to hit a woman?
#29
I find that feminism is mostly a farce. In pretty much every discussion I've had with feminists, they're really not about equality. They're about gaining power and being superior to men. By that, I mean that they essentially always want equality where they currently don't have it, but they won't concede perks that women already have over men in several places (such as that ridiculous "give up the bus seat to a random girl" comment above in the thread). The end result is that they're not looking for equality, they're looking to reverse the status quo (which, admittedly, isn't perfect either)

I personally believe in equality. I would give up my bus seat to the 5+ month pregnant woman, just like I would to an elderly gentleman because they both need it more than I do. A simple yet semi-common example: I am truly not impressed if a date waits for me to get out of the car, go around and open the door for her. She's not incapable or handicapped, so why the heck is she acting like it? It's not like being a girl makes it impossible for her to open her own door... I'm not looking for someone that's purposely being a burden; I'm looking for a best friend, camaraderie and lover all wrapped up into 1 person. (cue cheesy music, right? Chin)

To answer Throws' question and to tie into the thread a bit more... It's practically never ok for a guy to hit a girl for the simple reason that it's practically never ok for anyone to hit anyone else. Defense is pretty much the only excuse, whether it's to protect yourself or someone else. In this case, the fact that women are generally considered physically weaker has no bearing on right or wrong whatsoever because it's already flat out wrong, even if it's not a woman.
