Half Reliougous

[SIZE="1"]a lot of this post will probably either not make sense or come off as offensive to some people. neither is my intention, but i'm just typing this as i think and i don't have much time.

religion's one of the things i tend to think about and question a lot. i wasn't really raised religiously, although my parents were raised and still consider themselves catholic, and it wasn't until we moved to a very religious area that i started to wonder about it. i went through a phase where i went to church every sunday, read the bible every night before bed, etc. but then i took a step back and realized it was all bullshit. now i consider myself agnostic although there are times when it's more of an atheistic perspective.

i don't have a problem with religious people or openly attack them or anything until it starts to defeat the purpose. if you're wrongly prejudiced against someone or something and blame it on your faith, i lose my respect for you. i find all the hypocrisy that surrounds various religions laughable. although i don't have much experience with anything other than basic christian teachings, what i've seen disgusts me. people start to take things like the bible too literally (which is very easy to do, i guess, and a lot of it is really stupid imo.) and start becoming complete hypocrites. if your god is love, love is god. you should not be doing good things because you're scared to death of going to some imaginary hell. that doesn't make you a good person. according to the bible, a person who does not believe in god and yet works their whole life doing caring things for others out of the kindness of their heart will go to hell, while some other guy would get an eternal paradise after he died just because he admitted his sins to some guy in the sky? i don't think so.

religion can be a good concept until people take it too far. to quote an amazing song, they're just "beating with a book everyone that book tells you to love."
