Script kiddies in general cannot patch the hacks they're using. They need to wait for someone to do it for them, and leech it. A script kiddy would go around "plz make me an auto clicker" while a hacker would try to figure out how to do one.
Red hat hackers are somewhat now being considered to be gray hat hackers. They're the so-called ethic hackers, and many of them exists. Lots of them work for security companies, identifying flaws in various softwares/systems as a security service to customers. I know a few of them myself. These labels, black, white and gray are somewhat analogous to testing terms also.
