Easiest way to do a complex decoration is to print out a stylized one, put a transparency over it, using gel icing to trace the onto transparency then transfer it to the cake.
Using the one from our t-shirt for example. You can also fill in the outline with additional icing either on the transparency or after stuffing it on the cake.
