Why would they be pissed?
I personally give gifts to my friends which they need. One of my friends was mad because she couldn't recharge her MP3-player without having the comp on. Quite the pain when she's sleeping at the time she's home and/or not using the MP3. I found an USB-to-outlet converter, best gift ever.
