Your scientific bias is showing. There's a lot of truth to this, especially when looking at the trivialities spouted in the media. The simple reality is that people like to believe inane things without evidence because it makes them feel righteous, moral, and self important. Most of us are none of these things.

Honestly curious - I've never understood the term "scientific bias." When a statement is an accurate representation of a fact, it's not an opinion or a bias - it's a truth. Like saying 1+1=2, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, that statement is true no matter what. Same with global warming. You can't "believe/not believe in global warming" because it's a scientific fact.

I've always stayed out of two topics: politics and religion, because people are so polarized there's almost nothing you can do to change someone's mind. So participating in this discussion is a new area for me.
