Humanity will only change when there's just -NO- other way that's simpler to come by, so I would say:
LET'S MASS WASTE ALL PETROL ASAP, SO WE CAN MOVE ON TO THE FUTURE!
that is wrong, the thing with petrol is that it will become way too expensive to obtain, not that it will end completely. Also, there is a lot of research going on on alternative fuels, people are not "zomg petrol" anymore.
