Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Reviews and Discussion
OrionTempest Wrote:Was trying to get the last few Rusted Kushala parts I needed the other day. Failed several times before getting a good group because people would try using Flash Bombs while he was in the air. And missing. Repeatedly.

Then you get that one special person who insists on trying to trap Teostra/Kushala/Kirin. (Admittedly, I tried trapping Kirin the first time I fought one in LR, then remembered it was considered an Elder Dragon for whatever reason.)

Also leveled up my Jho GQ yesterday for Divine Spheres and Graven Charms, he just started destroying randoms as soon as he hit 136. Although I'm tempted to just chalk that up to inexperience, I still find myself underestimating Apex's breath range occasionally.

Well, in their defense, flash bombs are the only thing that make Rusted Kushala tolerable. Anything that makes that wind-spamming f
uckface stand still for even five seconds is a blessing. He's like the Khezu, Rathian, and Rathalos. They all are a bunch of pussies that stay airborne way too long. Spamming flash bombs is the only way to make them get the fuck down and fight. The only reason I even fight Rusted Kushala is because the drop rate for large elder dragon gems and Daora hardhorns is higher. His armor is among the worst sets in the game and every fucking weapon of his comes with a hefty -40% affinity or worse. Not to mention that thing is just as broken as the Black Gravios and Apex Deviljho. That fight can be summed up as follows: WIND WIND WIND WIND CANT MOVE CANT MOVE CANT MOVE WINDLOCKED WINDLOCKED WINDLOCKED DEAD BY BLACK TORNADO BECAUSE YOU CANT MOVE BECAUSE OF WINDLOCK *respawn* WIND WIND WIND WIND CANT MOVE CANT MOVE, etc... Unless I come across another monster's weapon that requires Rusted Kushala parts, that thing can kiss my ass.

As for the Apex Deviljho, well, that thing is just broken as fuck, and there's no way to deny it. For one, his breath reaching across a map that spans a whole mile is fucking stupid. That is overkill and completely unnecessary. Two, the small bump attacks that just knock you on your ass do almost half of your health, which is also fucking stupid. I'm wearing layers of armor with 20 dragon resistance and 720 defense. There's no reason getting pushed by a Deviljho's back leg should force me to have to run away and use two First Aid Med+'s/Mega Potions. Three, the hitbox for his pinning attack is a steaming river of pigshit. I really wish I had a video of the last time I got pinned by an Apex Deviljho. I was LITERALLY nowhere near him. He jumped at another player, pinned him, and somehow MY hunter is the one lying on his back flailing his arms at nothing. After about a decade of laying on the ground, pinned down by nothing, the Jho proceeds to use his breath that reaches to China and kills me instantly RIGHT as I stand up. Even though it was the first death of the battle, I abandoned the quest. It is really hard for me to stay motivated in a quest when dumb shit like that happens within 30 seconds of starting. When it's all said and done though, the Force and Drive Wystones are a terrible combination for the Apex Deviljho. For him and the Rajang, you REALLY need Brace, not Force. Brace is the only thing that will help you survive his breath if you don't have any dragon resistance.

In 3U, I never cared about fainting because I knew when I did, it was usually my own fault. Not in this game, no sir-ee. In this game, you not only have to worry about memorizing monster's attack patterns, you constantly have to be on the lookout for ways the game is going to unfairly bend you over and stick it in your ass. I have 10 sets of armor that are Rarity of 10 and upwards of 720 defense, and my death count is still OBSCENELY high compared to Tri or 3U. GQs were a great idea on paper, but once they all get over 136, they're not fun anymore. They're a chore. That's partially because idiots that post the quests allow people without Wystones to join, but they're still a chore. I will NEVER do a 136+ Rajang GQ ever again. I got one-shotted by his beam with 40 thunder resistance AND almost 750 defense. There comes a time where we need to admit enough is enough. I understand high level quests need to be difficult, but come the fuck on. Getting one-shotted after PURPOSEFULLY pushing up my resistances and defenses to survive a specific monster? Nope. Go fuck yourselves with a rake, Capcom. That's bullshit and you know it.
