Hypermug, I wish I knew. I actually made the Jade Battlefanzers the other day, which are an incredible set of dual blades with both water and sleep. In most quests, I can put the monster to sleep a MINIMUM of four times, giving us ample opportunities to sleep bomb/GS charge the monster's head. Does that ever happen though? Nope, not even close. I pre-edited a shoutout to let people know when I was going to put it to sleep, and to please be careful not to wake it up. None of that matters though. No one watches, no one reads, and everyone wakes it up. The only suggestion I have for you is to just start kicking people. I know that sounds harsh, but that is truly the only way you're going to get a decent team.
I'm not trying to be fascist, but if you join one of my G-rank rooms, you'd better meet the following requirements otherwise you're getting instantly kicked:
1. At least 650 defense for normal G-rank quests, 700+ for level 136 or higher guild quests
2. At least 3 good skills that work together
3. Both wystones if we are doing ANYTHING apex
4. A weapon that you KNOW HOW TO USE
5. That weapon must have decent attack
6. If you've got -10 or less resistance to thunder and we're fighting a Zinogre, Rajang, or Kirin, you'd better eat for Thundercaller (this also goes for any elemental weakness)
While we're in quests, if you do any of the following, you get instantly kicked after the quest is over:
1. Repeatedly use attacks that launch teammates
2. Continually attacking the monster's head, staggering hammer and other users specifically trying to KO the monster
3. Wake a monster up after being told to watch for sleep
4. Spend the first ten minutes of the quest gathering instead of helping with the fight
5. Attack a monster while it's mounted, causing the mounter to be thrown
6. Kick teammates while they're gathering or carving
7. Start the quest then AFK
8. Die more than once in a single quest (semi-flexible on this, especially if we are fighting an Apex Rajang or something similarly annoying)
All of that may sound like a Nazi approach to questing, but this game is NOT like 3U. It is much more difficult and monsters require teams that work together, not teams that try to function on individual teammates. When guild quests reach upwards of level 136, you are no longer afforded the luxury of running random weapons and armor with any hope of victory. I have a very hard time enjoying this game because of people that do shit like me and Hypermug described. I'm currently Gold Crown, HR 161 and I've seen (on more than one occasion) people who are HR 200+, still G1, wearing armor with sub 500 defense, and no wystones. I don't understand it at all. If you want to hunt with me, get your shit in line or your ass is getting kicked. Period.
Even though people are to blame for their own suckage, the lack of voice chat doesn't help either. In 3U, I could just vocalize, "ITS ASLEEP, ITS ASLEEP, STOP ATTACKING" and everyone would get the message. Because Capcom decided to be a wad of dicks this time around, we don't have that luxury. All we have are pre-edited shoutouts we can use that, most of the time, don't work. There are many game mechanics in 4 that are irresponsible and hard to look past. I enjoy the game, but I have not hit the same level of euphoria I did while playing 3U. To be quite honest, I don't know if I'll ever reach that point with 4. Tri and 3U were just better all-around.
