To be fair, Rathalos's poison is in his claws, not his tail, according to the lore.
But hey, it's not the only monster with that problem. Garuga can still poison you after his tail is cut, which is bullpomegranate considering it's too easy to get hit by his tail whip when he's in rage.
In my opinion, I would say just pretend GQ's don't exist, and you'll probably be fine (every game has had its fair share of bullpomegranate, but GQ's make it far worse).
