And you can go at any time, but if you don't have the Wystone from the end of the main story, expect to be kicked a lot at G Rank unless you're playing with friends. (Even though you don't really NEED it until mid-late G, I think)

You really don't need Wystones at all until you hit Extreme monsters. Frenzied monsters can overall benefit you if you intentionally get the Frenzy Virus and counter it. You get a nice affinity boost that's useful. Extreme state monsters, though, have stupidly increased defense points and such that make actually fighting them far more difficult and some of them even need to be knocked out of it to really have a chance against them.
