I found it quite useful for eliminating some options, to save myself trips back to the start.
One of my parties had an extreme case of a guy who flat-out refused to even try to figure out his own sequence. He waited until the three others were done and the party leader figured out his combination and told him. Well, at least he was able to follow that combination.
Other strange people encountered in one short evening: a thief who refused to go in the haste room, and ended up hasting another party member who volunteered to go; and a priest using nodelay (who said hackers would be gone with this patch, hmm?)
