Sort of, yeah, though they seem to have a pretty good approximation of where it went down and why. Just not the right equipment (yet) to bring it back up from the seabed.
Agree that this is really unfortunate for civil flights. Ukraine, Malaysia, Indonesia...entire flights that have just ceased to exist in one way or another. I'm not up to snuff on my air travel history but I think it's been quite some time since it was this bad? Perhaps a couple of decades, since Korean Air was losing flights left and right.
