1- You're supposed to already have good items to go to a place like stronghold (scrolled and with some potential).
2 - It would take you around 70 hours of training there to make 400m for a single clean CRA item. Thats not counting the weapon which can still be cheap or cost over a billion.
Chaos blades cost 15m each, MC cubes cost 250-300m, epic potential scrolls cost 250m, potential stamps cost from 150 to 200, item traces cost 50k each and you need 380 for a 70% scrolling each time, clean slates cost 40M each. If the damage boost from the clean item was big enough it would be justified for it to be that costy (the 60% boss dmg is not even close for the big bosses), but 80% or even more of the damage boost will come from potential and trace scrolling. Considering the HUGE amount of work you'll have ahead of you to trully make that item endgame. yes it should be cheap, and that is my complaint.
12m in 2hours is absolutely not a reasonable amount to make if you were trying to make mesos or knew what to do. If you truly think it's that hard to make money in this game, then I have few suggestions for you:
Obviously just looting and NPC'ing drops isn't the optimal way to make mesos while training. Extract every level 100+ equip you loot (especially at DI). Superior crystals currently sell for ~1m ea, and you should be able to get 100m while maxing out your DI runs (with drop familiar ofc). From a base of 100m, it's pretty easy to merch (take advantage of cheap event items and sell them after the event for a significant price increase, buy any low/mispriced items you see and sell them for a reasonable price, sell "perfected" items instead of clean items when profitable. In BelloNova, you can sell a perf superior belt for 6-6.5b, but it only costs 4-5b to make). Once you have a higher range (~300k for hard gollux, ~100k for normal gollux? with some variation depending on class), you can do the Gollux prequest and sell drops and scroll service. For BelloNova, you can sell scroll service (takes 30 coins, aka 2 days of killing hard or 3 days of killing normal gollux + 2 runs where you just kill the body parts) for 150m each. I don't know what the price is in other worlds, but it should be a decent price still.
Would it be easier to get a higher range for the average player if equips were dirt cheap? Absolutely. But it wouldn't necessarily make the game a better experience. I have friends (with a good range, 1m+, but not super funded and missing stuff like CS drop buffs, drop equips, etc.) who completely stopped going to Empress because the drops were no longer worth the time it took to boss. If there's no meaningful/profitable end game content, then once you've spent billions upgrading to "godly" status, you're left with nothing to do once the novelty of killing end-game bosses wears off. If, because of low equip prices, it's more profitable to farm superiors at DI even AFTER you have enough range to kill Cygnus, then there's no value in upgrading to begin with.
