Well seeing as how I don't care as much about Megas anymore that greatly helps with my decision making.

Incredibly exciting eh.
the IGN review is a bit... annoying. They give a pretty much glowing review saying how much they love every aspect of the game, with the only complaints being "too much water" and "too many HMs", and then they slapped the game with a rating of 7.8 because of those 2 things.
They even mentioned in the review that they have cut down on HM use by making Flash into a TM and invalidating the need for Fly with Mega Latias and Mega Latios. Plus surfing speed has increased dramatically from Platinum onwards. It's pretty ridiculous.
Also a review mentioned you can fly anywhere now, including routes and other locations, not just towns.
You could always do what I do and just read reviews and ignore the score at the end.
