It wasn't supposed to fix it.
I haven't tried yet but I'm told setting your Maple window size to the highest resolution solves this.
I suspect that if you can't do that (computer's screen is too small) you need to search randomly around the map for the right place to click or use NPC chat.
I have noticed several things are misplaced when you're using the smallest window size, most notably the death count background (but not the counter itself) in maps that have a death counter, so apparently this NPC's "hitbox" is suffering from the same sort of bug.
