I sometimes wonder what the fudge they do during a maintanance that they take so long to fix 2 or 3 things :/.

Here's a little explanation of how changing/fixing online software works:

1) Someone In Charge decides what needs to be done
2) Programmers write or change the code accordingly, and testers test it, on a development computer or network. This can take minutes or years, depending on the size and difficulty of the change. During this time, the "live servers" (a.k.a "production") are unchanged.
3) The live servers are brought down, and all data is backed up.
4) The updated software is installed on the servers. This means copied from the development system.
5) If there are changes to the client, the new client is copied to the public download server.
6) If there are changes to the database (such as "deleting excess items"), they are enacted.
7) The new software is cursorily tested to make sure nothing broke on the way from development to production.
8) Servers are brought back up, and customers can use them.

Only stages 3-8 happen during the maintenance.
All programming is done before the maintenance.
Therefore complaints along the lines of "why is the game down so long if they're only fixing a couple things" are meaningless. They don't program the fixes while the game is down. What takes long is the testing, and the going over the database.

The bugs you're talking about aren't even on their Known Issues list. And both have been around for years, so to expect them to be fixed in an emergency maintenance is a bit unrealistic.
