Also I think it's completely reasonable to say that it's a marketing ploy. There's literally no reason for the Beta to be closed when the Alpha was open. The only reason I could think of was the exclusivity; limited access could generate more hype for the game. But if this lets the game be marketted anyways, there's no really no reason to gate entry to the beta.
It's not like it's a bad thing either; marketing ploys were something that Nexon NA hardly attempted for DFO after it's initial release. If anything, it's a GOOD thing that Neople has some idea of how to promote things via promotions and social networking sites.
