(And this worked to an extent, some people did hundreds of runs more than they really needed) But what happened is that many people refused to even compete under those conditions. Especially in Scania, where it looks like people just assumed the NX hoes would make it so you need several hundred runs to get it.
If there had been a leader board and you could see that people would get a medal with 61 runs, you'd do 62. Or 70. Or 100 because somebody else saw the same thing and went for that 62 as well.
Yup, that's precisely why I didn't bother doing more runs than I needed for the 15 Atk Medal. I figured the NX hoes would dominate. Surprisingly, some of Bera's most notorious NX hoes aren't even in the top 10.
