#Gamergate

The 'allegedly' is the part I have trouble with, strike that and it's more like "Gamergate is composed of some people who enjoy harassing women and will lie to get away with it, and some people who think the former group is making some good points about how gamers are treated".

So let me try to clarify. You believe that these female journalists are discriminated against because of their gender and that participants of the Gamergate movement not only enjoy harassing women, but lie about it. Is that correct?

I think that anyone here can concede that that most women, certainly including gamer journalists, will experience discrimination at several points in their life and, depending on their residence, even on a daily basis. But that's not the point or at least not the only issue at hand. I'll also concede that a minority of Gamergate may in fact be jumping on the bandwagon because they enjoy harassing women. But I ask, in the interest of reasonable discussion, that we set aside the fringe elements on either side and discuss the actual issues.

I haven't seen you or anyone else particularly dispute the majority of evidence in this thread that gamer "journalists" have what would be considered an improper relationship and conflict of interest in any other field of journalism. Do you think that the incidents described in this thread do not merit consumer criticism? How do you propose we address this problem if Gamergate is doing so in a "misogynistic" way? Do you simply believe that equality for women and (reasonably) unbiased journalism are somehow incompatible?

I'm more than interested in reasonable discussion here if you can provide some perspective. Your posts have been rather short on reasoned argument and heavy on inciteful diction. This last was not necessarily without provocation from others, but you already mentioned the eye for an eye mentality makes the whole world blind so I request that you rise above calling anyone in this thread misogynistic again without more substantial evidence.
