Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion

You can.

I'd only suggest double elimination once the TO has an idea on everybody's skill levels. That's typically the point of pools or seeding so that the more skilled players don't face each other right off the bat.

If numbers are low to moderate, round robin is the way to go but I would suggest that anyway unless we have an obscene amount of entrants. Since this is strictly online, timing constraints is not an issue. That would make future tournaments a bit more fair when we start using double elimination bracket. Just my two cents, but regardless of what happens I'd love the chance to play everybody (and get wrecked) Smile

I was thinking of going double elimination for the fair chance thing. Getting eliminated right off the bat is an unfortunate event. Also, I was thinking of only doing double elimination if the number of attendees was a good number. i.e. 2^n +/- 2. Otherwise I was going to suggest using swiss-style tournament and then get the top 4 (or 8) to compete with single elimination bracket.

We don't have a good measure of skill level yet. I don't think that should rule out using double elimination though. There's nothing inherently wrong with blind draw IMO.

Multiplayer is not region locked. It was confirmed earlier. I've seen a lot of streams of NA people playing with JP people with little lag. Online seems good this time around so I'm excited.
