This usually causes the person voted against to come in and defend themselves, when the may not have posted much or anything otherwise. Of course, if they don't respond then it does looks suspicious. But wouldn't that go against the whole "don't vote off inactives" everyone was preaching about yesterday? Voting to get someone to talk is pretty similar to voting for someone because they are inactive. And then removing the vote if they just come and say hi, its voting for the sake of voting and accomplishes nothing. And to point out, but if a townie has a useful power, wouldn't they try to be a bit more active and invested in the game? While a power helps, if you stay silent we don't know what you are doing and it looks like you are not involved.
The difference between early Day 1 voting and Inactivity Lynching is that the Day 1 vote doesn't have the intent to actually lynch anyone, while Inactivity Lynching is specifically designed to take someone out because they are inactive under the theory that they must be mafia otherwise they would be talking (which usually isn't true on Day 1).
