She got approval to release it on Steam minutes before the news broke. She asked on Twitter if people wanted her to release it still or to wait a while because she was worried about it being seen as this. Many people said they found the game helpful to them and so she should release it.

She literally opened it to honor robin williams. That was the whole point of it.

The problem with their "women making games" thing while centering it around the ideas is, well, that the only woman guaranteed to be involved is the winner whose name they'll stick on it, as opposed to using female developers, and backers can morph that idea so even that involvement is limited. Not only are women not actually making the game, but that's not even something the winner can really put on their resume and gain any benefit from like they claim, so the contest is pretty flawed from an actually helping women standpoint. That's part of the problem, beyond the percentage of money thing being so low.

It was for exposure not resume, and the entire point is that they can't code, that's why they are participating. Whether it's female developers or not is an asinine detail, they are workers, bringing a female idea to life, to show what kind of dimension breaking games that the female mind can bring to us.

So again, you're wrong.

3. The trans issue is that many trans women who would need a contest like this to make their game likely would not be able to afford (and even then, don't necessarily want) bottom surgery. This was said to them at the time. It's my understanding that their policy is more open now, though, so good on them if that's the case.

Did you read anything I said? They used a definition that was fit for the LGBT, and that was never requirement in the first place. She assumed it was, so no, it wasn't a change in retaliation, there was no change at all.
