Not sure when it was fixed, but you no longer lose Luminous Light/Dark gauge points when you are not aligned to any side (i.e. when you first log in) then change channel in any way i.e. go to the private channel (e.g. DIPQ), CS, Monster Farm.
You also retain your Light/Dark alignment when you die, and the gauge points. [Need verification again]
