Simply put, Maplestory was highly fun back in the day because there were few alternatives. Now days, there's all kinds of games you can play and have dress me up dolls in them instead.
It's a little silly to honestly think any game can keep a high user base when it's almost 10 years old. When was the last time you heard of anyone playing world of warcraft?
Girl you are coocoo for coco puffs. There is more world of warcraft straight up rip offs than any other mmo ever. It currently has like 6-7 million subscribers.
