How many people are REALLY still playing Maplestory?

The work NXJoe did and what's going on today aren't even related, nor was NXJoe's plotline for NLC even canonically important to my knowledge. Yeah, the way things were going were great, but pomegranate happens, get over it. Enough with the rose tinted glasses.

I'm sorry but the story was by far superior to todays sh`it. You have a class that is literally a pop star s`lut. #SODEEP #SOCREATIVE. I can recognize the faults of old maplestory, believe you me, but what they have been doing with these class stories are downright contradictory to what was intended. Yes, the last good plot point we ever got was by NXJoe with CWKPQ. Do you really want to argue that point or should we compare? You know, the almost 6 years of people asking for NLC to continue, only to get some bastardized version of it?

You over use this line so often it's getting bland and honestly stupid. You act like any single person that plays this game and doesn't ever encounter Nexon's erroneous ways is someone who enjoys pain or being treated like they're worthless. Read: Most people that play this game never end up dealing with pay2win, or false bans, or any of that other sort of bullpomegranate that you constantly refer to as some sort of masochistic tendency. Knock it off.

LOL. Really, are you serious, everyone deals with this sh`it, hell I bet if I did a post history (honestly too lazy to with you) I could find you complaining about something related to those things. Then you have people who are literally so fickle and desperate they will turn around in the flip of a switch. I won't mention names but someone like you, who had y our perspective, got permabanned, for almost what, 2-3 months? It wasn't valid, and they finally changed it, he made an angry dome thread about how maplestory is absolutely retarded and how dare he waste his time. The moment his character got released, he pulled a 360. When is it your turn? Well we'll see in the future. But those are just some of the things, you wanna talk about bosses dc youing? Players dcing you? PQ's being broken or worthless? Characters patches the same way? How about server crashes, unscheduled server checks being as common as server checks.

You're a masochist, no one with common sense would put up with such risk to play a game that punishes you with things you have no control over endlessly. Would you like to talk about the database leak, the massive false permabans that happened what, 3 times now in error? Oh, how about the fu`cking ticket system.

I'm sorry, this just made me burst out laughing. As if Maplestory ever had any semblence of "meta game" or balance for that matter.

You're so desperate to find any validity in your defense that you can't even keep up. What is the strategy of maplestory, or most MMO games? It's not competitive, so we aren't talking player vs player, as you ignorantly suggest. The point of maplestory at this point of time is to simply be able to boss so sustain your NX need. That's the common "goal" of maplestory with majority of the players. That's why the only people who play are capable of bossing because everyone else left. The only aspect left is bossing and the growth to get to it. When you have quests feed you to level 100, "story" quests, hell more like "tutorial", then you can see where the game is taking you. "quick jump right to bossing because that's all we have to do!"

Again, most players don't even remotely deal with the first and 3rd points you make there. The second point is something that literally every MMO out there does to an extent. Have you ever played other MMOs Dustin?

Maybe you should visit the nexon forum more, or maybe talk to people who actually deal with reports, before you spout such nonsense in your little to no populated server. The problem is VERY out there, and A LOT of people experience it. Hell not even 2 months Nexon was being harrased by some brat who was being harased by a dc hacker. Yes a harasser harassing them. You're so stuck in your bubble that you don't even know what sh`it nexon has done recently to essentially tell you "lol maplestory is perfect f`uck off pessimists."

No because most MMOs besides blade and soul are blatent world of warcraft* rip offs, the only other MMOs I've tried are Terra, and I think that's it (Depends if you include borderlands), but all of them were boring concepts. But please, find me another MMO with, uh, how many classes are there? 40+? That's not "MMO standard" that's "We ran out of sh`it so here's our gimmick, oh and if you want to start over, we';ll make sure you invest NX".

Please, elaborate because I fail to see how this is even partially true. Maplestory is a much different game than it used to be, but it isn't nearly this cesspool of garbage your clearly bitter self is so jaded over.

Maplestory has its problems for sure, but it's still a hell of a lot better than most other alternatives out there.

That's a closing statement, from what I just said, the elaboration is all above it. Name me an aspect of maplestory and I can tell you a single event that completely f`ucked it over for months. For you to believe maplestory is not a cesspool is an absolutely desperate, groundless, statement, you're either naive or denial. Unfortunately for you I have actual facts to back up that maplestory is sh`it, want to start with the population decline over the last 5 years? Hell look at southperry, even this website has maybe half its usual active members. You think maplestory 2 is going to save everything? HA.

Lemme in on you some things.

1. I only buy NX for perm things or gifts for friends. I don't do "pro" bossing. My highest is a 171 Luminous that I typically ROLEPLAY on. So as for that "thousands" of dollars. No... I actually don't spend that much.

I'm actually HAPPY with the system currently because I focus on the story and not much else.
-Oh boy new area? I'll explore it for the quest line after all the initial hype wears down from those that want whatever was added in this patch from it.
-New class? Great, I'll make it later and play it out a bit.
-Marvel and Gach update? I'll pass.

I'd love to see your NX log listed on the maplestory website, let's see how many cubes/scissors/pets you have ordered, considering every single class needs you to purchase everything all over again. What you're telling me is maplestory is so shallow you only can focus on one aspect, and a pretty worthless one at that. How long does the new class or area entertain you? A few weeks? Then what, back to waiting. It's like quick shots of goddamn heroin. You being a victim of the system just further deteriorates your perspective/opinion. You got burned so now you limit yourself because you just can't say "Well this isn't worth it", that is addiction, dear.

3. There's nothing wrong with enjoying the small bits that make up a whole story. I enjoy seeing Phantom in Beast Tamer's alliance quest, and it's even funnier when you play Luminous and realize he bickers the same way with Neinheart. The only thing "shallow" about my faning is the shipping. Shall I send you a PM with some of the fanfics I have wrote? or maybe I can hold you over with some nice fan art.

WHAT STORY. The epicly cliched, contradicting story that has been told by 3 different "maplestory teams"???? You want to play a game with an engaging story/lore go play magiboni or whatever the hell thats called.

4. I've been playing Maplestory since before pirates were even a thing and guess what? I was still roleplaying back then. I don't know what you expect out of Maplestory but compared to years ago, there is a lot more for me to enjoy roleplay wise, which makes for a very happy Kimi.

...You played Gaia hotel didnt you? Or whatever it was called. And what do I expect from maplestory? That's been repeated too many times.

I dunno what you got against the game, but I invite new classes and areas, I welcome revamps and rewriting. I am enjoying this game currently and have been for a long time. The only thing I wish could be settled truly is Aran's gender because that makes it very hard to roleplay but essentially my crew just gave up and see Aran as two different people now.

That's what I don't get about some of you maplers, you challenge all rational facts of the games drastic decline with WELL I HAVE FUN. I'm sure the KKK has fun with it's meetings too but doesn't mean it's suddenly a socially accepted club. Business even with 4-5 regular customers still close down. You fit a specific nitch that you take specifically out of this game because it is your comfort zone, when there are other games that specifically define themselves with role play, I guess at least. It's like me saying maplestory is the best game on the f`ucking planet because they have an interactive board, yeah the slime/mushroom pieces are adorable, but maplestory isn't about that.
