Ah, I think I've caught on now. Simple through himself in front of the bus to bait out any additional cops. I guess time will tell if his gamble was worth it for the mafia.

EDIT: There is of course every possibility that he is NOT a ditto. I would not be surprised at all if he's an Electrode or something and uses Selfdestruct to take one of us with him. On the other hand, I don't really see many other options for the town atm.
