I agree that we can't forget about the mafia leader, but if we believe Meta was blocked on night 2, then I think that would more or less put Meta in the townie category. Of course, the mafia could have just not used the ability on night 2 and make Meta say that they were "blocked." This does seem like a waste of an ability for the mafia to target themselves or not make use of an ability. Even if the roleblocker is townie, they are doing a pretty bad job at it...
Also, you pointed out a good point before. If we lynch a townie today (and assume there are 4 mafia members) we are going to have a 3/3 situation tomorrow. If Cakes isn't townie the game could go with the mafia, since the neutrals could just sit it out...
