They do have to start somewhere, but starting with something as negligible as this would be stupid. How about starting with permanently banning those who seem to have more ability to keep other players from logging into the game via disconnection hacks than actual GMs do with the ridiculously light ban durations. Or people who are still botting up to level 250 despite 4+ temporary bans. Hell, even people who fake being GMs to lure other players into shady websites to steal their account information.
There are an obscenely high number of things wrong with MapleStory, but calling for penalization for a bug like this when there are significantly larger issues at hand (especially those that have been for years) is laughable. I get that you want ~justice~ for people who break the rules but there's pretty clearly a hierarchy of broken rules and starting at the very bottom would be an enormous waste of time. Maybe by punishing those who break the more serious rules people would think twice before doing smaller things like this. Or if Nexon paid more attention to the state of the game bugs like this wouldn't last for 3 years without being noticed.
