Doing status effects on him when he not stunned will heal him. All status effects need to wear off before stun wears off else he heals. Getting grabbed by him will heal him. if you think this boss is BS, Wait till you see the 5th map boss. Makes tee hee look like a cake walk.
Oof, sounds like a terrible sort of boss for certain classes to deal with. But that doesn't sound as bad as it looks, most certainly...
