Story time (with photos! Who doesn't love photos
)
This whole week has been lovely.
On Sunday, Stephen and I drove about an hour and a half to Strathcona Park and hiked through Paradise Meadows up to Lake Helen-Mckenzie. Every now and then you could get a peak at the Comox Glacier, which looked really neat-but I guess it's a few days worth of hiking and we don't have a tent or supplies yet to do so. Strathcona also has Canada's tallest waterfall, Della Falls, but the trails are not maintained nor supervised, in addition to being a 3 day hike that includes crossing a lake via canoe, there are also a lot of bears. I'd like to do it eventually, though
When we got to the lake, these birds called Whiskey Jacks were hopping around. Apparently they're pretty tame and used to people so we fed them apple bits. They flew right onto our hands to eat the bits, too :o
I wasn't feeling well earlier this week, and Stephen came home from work with flowers for me. I was pleasantly surprised due to the fact that him and I are usually of the mindset that flowers typically die within a week, so we don't bother with them. But these are Alstroemeria, and tend to last quite a long time. Today, I wrote a letter to my best friend and mailed that off (cuz snail mail>texting sometimes), and then got a caramel macchiato from a local coffeeshop. Sat down and read Game of Thrones for an hour or so. By then, the rain had cleared up so I drove down to the ocean and spent a good while there. I'm convinced that I live in a perfect place and no one can convince me otherwise. This just looks like it should be an oil painting:
Oh, and with Canada day being a Tuesday, Stephen has a 4 day weekend. Bring it on =)
