Cop and detective are different roles? They are different names that are used for the same classical investigative role.
It's petty because it's arguing on terminology. All you said doesn't exclude the possibility of Kyra being a mafia cop.

And I do agree with Shidoshi that cop and detective are the same! I've checked many times, and cop is just another term for detective and vice versa.
