I wouldn't call it a glitch perse, its just abusing the in game physics, as hopping removes the friction of the track slowing you down thus giving you a better boost. It's just an unadvertised unintended trait that was added into the game due to physics.

Thats still a glitch though, is it not? Its uninteded, and gives one vehicle a clearly large advantage over another, so how can you really justify it as anything but a glitch? I dunno, i just feel like people enjoy abusing crap like this a little too much and then try whatever they can to justify it. Its like wavedashing and pomegranate in melee. Its a glitch. Plain and simple.
