PDR = Physical defence rate (and MDR = Magical defence rate, but everyone just says PDR for both for whatever reason), and the other thing is Elemental Resistance, Physical, bizarrely, is considered an element.
PDR/MDR can be negated with ignore mob defence potential/set effects/nebulites/whatever, stuff like 30% ignore DEF on a weapon at unique for example would work for that, but the elemental resistance is something separate entirely. Pretty much every high level boss is resistant to every element, and when a boss is resistant to whatever element you're attacking with, your damage gets cut flat in half. It's essentially a means of doubling a bosses HP, unless you're a class that can ignore elemental resistance.*
I think elemental resistance is gonna go the same way Flash Jump did, in a year or two or however long this game lasts after all the impending revamps every class is gonna have some form of elemental resistance ignore to 'even the playing field'. I like the idea of elements in game but when it's used for this purpose it really is just stupid.
*Luminous, Evan, Blaze Wizard, Arch Mages, Paladin, Cygnus Knights, Mercedes(?), Buccaneer(?) all ignore some elemental resistance iirc, dunno if that list is entirely accurate though.
