Maybe it was just the dungeon I was in (Golem's Tower) but I couldn't do pomegranate. those big golems I couldn't do any damage to because they hurt you on touch, and my attacks suddenly became stupidly weak. Also there were too many skills to put on my hotkeys and nearly all of them seem useless. and never seem to work.
Really disappointed. I really enjoyed Priest, but Monk sucks. I enjoyed Mage a lot too until I advanced to a Witch and found it quite boring. Eh... I should really do my research before advancing, but as a newbie to the game i'm finding it hard.
One rule of thumb I tend to use is look up gameplay videos of the subclasses to get some idea of what sort of class I'll be playing.
Witch is essentially a luck based class since they have a chance to hit hard, hit okay, or fumble with their skills. You get skills to mitigate the bad luck later on to the point you'll essentially no longer have the bad. I found a video of a high level Witch in DnF if you want to take a gander and their skills. It should be somewhat obvious at when a skill is a "Sleeper" (aka rolled high and skill is souped up), normal, or a total dud.

Monk is meant to pummel stuff as much as possible while dodging stuff like you're a shonen character. The class is definitely not an easy class since there's so much you can do with their Ducking and Swaying. Some videos of their gameplay.

I guess the question here is what sort of playstyle do you lean towards more? Do you want to blow up entire rooms of enemies? Be more mobile? Like more of a summon based class? A simple but effective class? Combo oriented class? Like to stay in the back? Like to be in the front lines? Like seeing huge numbers? Like to control the battlefield with status effects or crowd control?
For Mage maybe Elementalist is more to your liking. They are rather bad in the beginning and are glass cannons, but become monstrous damage dealers.

For Priest, Exorcist has 2 styles that are as different as night and day. Physical is in-your-face axe smashing in plate armor. Magical is staying back in squishy clothes and casting spells with lots of utility. The plus side is you can buy a 2nd build (whenever cash shop comes out) so you have both to try out.

Note: The skill where he picks up and enemy and swings at it falling down like a baseball bat needs to be charged up for maximum effect. You alternate and press the skill button AND the attack button to charge it up quickly. Don't do what I did and mash the Star in the Sky button alone. You'll almost never fully charge it with one button along. So say the button for the skill is "F". Instead of just pressing "FFFFFFFF", press "FXFXFXFXFXFXFXFXFXFX" to charge it up super fast.
