First one is for the guilds that have characters in them that you wouldn't normally be able to have (such as !, @, #, $, etc.).
Second, I have no idea. I haven't heard of any hacks related to the search function yet.
Would be nice to see them do something about the guilds that hacked their way up to like lvl 17 or higher. There's no way in hell any guild over lvl 17 is legitimate.
