But other then that I am impressed. On their Facebook page/In-game they've interacted with the community more then Nexon ever could dream of, fixing bugs and in decent time frames, I see a bright future for DFO.
My only guess that it's because it's only in Alpha stage and accounts will likely be wiped before there is an official re-opening. Then there will likely be an account system put in place. This probably saves up on server space until things are put together for the official start.
