Just so you know before reading this, you cannot gain a soul on a weapon thats sealed or change it in the future.
To get these boss souls you need to kill the boss that the soul belongs to. You can get up to 4 soul pieces per boss, and each boss has its own rank (with magnus & empress being the best). Stats is depending on the boss rank. Once you collected 10 pieces you can doubleclick them and get a random soul. The soul will tell you your passive stat boost before you apply it to your weapon, unless its the rare (or magnificent) one. All souls apart from the rare one is not tradeable, and they expire in 30 days. The rare one do not expire and is tradeable but mind you rates are very low to obtain it.
Stats you can obtain from magnus/empress: 24 STR/DEX/LUK/INT, 15 all stat, 760ish hp, 6 w.att or m.att. Your boss soul will only pick one of these. Rare boss soul can give Critical rate, boss dmg, ignore def, w.att %, m.att %, pure w.att/m.att boost, % all stat or % hp. Those are always going to be random (like my first rare soul give me stupid 3% m.att when I cant use that)
The first part is always nice to have, but the charged effect of your weapon is not.
To charge your soul you need to kill monsters, (dimensional invade is very good for a quick charge) and as you keep killing you gain more dmg on your weapon. 1 charge will give you 5 w.att and fully charged will give you 20 w.att (on empress at least). Now I dont know there was any changes made to this part with the revamp (which it looks like you guys are getting). You can choose to keep the 20 w.att boost or use your soul weapon skill and lose all 1000 charges. Most of the time this isnt worth it unless its a summon, which Empress is, but then again if you cap already the summon is always worth it. With revamp you only use up 250 of the charges rather than all of them. Worst part about using these skills is the 3-4 sec delay when casted.
Problem about this part, is that you lose ALL charges upon dying. This means no more free damage boost, its all gone. So if you cannot keep it after reviving in normal or hard magnus/cra/empress/gollux you still have no chance to regain those charges. Mobs that empress spawn wont give you enough, same for gollux. This doesnt mean it doesnt help you grind or boss where you normally wont die, I dont know if buff freezers will keep the charges or not.
Hope that clear some things up, but I think many of you will be dissapointed of this system, or let alone end up not bothering to charge your weapon before bossing.

cygnus soul gives 960 mhp. The 20 wa boost also disappears after around 20 minutes or so, if you charged it max and you die, then you're better off summoning the soul for extra damage lol.
