I would imagine that a +20%+ reduction from armor would be better than a +1% reduction from AR with the same exact points.
They are all linear in their increase of EHP, however since they multiply each other it's more effective to have a balanced amount of each one where possible.
Dodge sucks, though. It doesn't work for a lot of effects like Plagued, Poison Enchanted, Molten, Fire Chains, etc. and yet it scales with the same formula:
10 dex for dodge = 10 str for armor = 10 int for AR.
