dems Wrote:see it's posts like this that make it obvious people didn't play beta. beta had a lot of hacking and a lot of bs. soon after the game released money started getting involved for items and mesos. just becuase you weren't around people buying things for cash or hacks etc. doesn't mean it didn't happen. beta was not the happy friendly land you're remembering and old maple had tons of alienating due to power/level. the nostalgia goggles are strong in here but if you actually plyaed beta/early maple and weren't 13-15 you'd probably know what i'm talking about. i mean back then the community you all talk about wouldn't even give you mesos for pots or the trip back if you got stuck in orbis. literally tons of people woudl run by you and ignore you. peopel used each other, excluded people by class, and nobody was really "close". a lot of you are flat out mislead or were probably too young to recall what it was actually like. "oh you're not an i/l or sin? gtfo my party we need someone better". sure they didn't say godly, sure there wasn't cubes but people alienated the fk out of each other and there was maybe community for you and your friends but the game was not friendly lol. anyways servers are up and i won't check sp again til next maint most likely so i hope you all have a good day
You're so bias it's funny lol. I mean I guess that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but you can't give a valid argument unless you've played the game how it was meant to be played back then.
You're saying you've always played the game this way, and this way only. I've played the game that way and many other ways, and the other ways are so much better. Sure I loved having damage, but it came to a point where I eventually quit because it was old and monotonous.
This is how I view the game.
MapleStory is a tall building with a hundred floors. At the beginning there was no elevator. You walked up the stairs and on each floor there were cool and interesting things to look at and do. People were spread out among the floors. At the top floor, you receive a gold bracelet for your achievement.
Over time, the building manager decided it would be a nice feature to add an elevator in that takes you directly from the bottom floor to the 95th floor, but it costs money. So obviously most people jump at that and go straight up to the top floors, skipping everything else interesting so that they can be with the others at the tip top, for ego reasons. The manager realizes he's making lots of money, so he adds more prizes at the top for people.
All the other floors start to empty out and fewer and fewer people continue to enjoy the building so they leave. As for the top, where people who spent money hang out, it starts to get crowded and hard to breathe. Everyone at the top starts to leave, making room for new people who visit the building to buy their way straight up to the top and repeat the cycle. Why take the slow route and you can just buy your way there to get your shiny prizes?
Nexon has made it too easy to jump to the top, leaving no purpose for anyone to play the game below the top.
