In that situation, anyone smart would ask Guy to hold the tenchnique until they devise a way to make it a sure kill or at the very least most effective, not just throw his life in an attempt to stop Madara based on luck, all the more considering 7 gates coldnt even scratch him.
Unless it was explained that Guy is trying to stop Madara from taking Kakashi's Sharingan eye and going after Obito, then all would make much more snese
