Eh, the film looks pretty terrible. But it is for kids, and I bet kids would love the characters.
And in regards to it being connected with Maple, I really doubt it. The Wizard of Oz and it's universe are considered public domain now, meaning everyone can use it. That's why Wicked exists, even Supernatural had a Wizard of Oz themed episode.
Alice in Wonderland is another book which is public domain, hence the character of Alice the tree of life, and Root Abyss.
So basically, it's just a coincidence. Wizard of Oz themed works are appearing all the time, we get at least one every year. Oz the great and powerful, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, and probably others i'm forgetting, just in the last couple of years.
