Slardar is my favourite so far, I looove Slardar. I'm not sure why he's not more popular. I also like a bunch of other heroes like Spirit Breaker, Centaur, Jakiro, Tidehunter, Outworld Devourer But I'm finding it hard to get into some of the ranged and intelligence heroes, and have no idea how to ward or support other than warding the runes. I know it's not too important in my skill class (haven't even played 15 games yet whoops) but I want to learn as soon as possible. I've seen some videos but it feels hard to take it all in.
Warding depends on how you know/feel the game is going. If you feel like like you're being ganked too often and you can't farm your jungle and lanes safely ward defensively, as in spots they're most likely to move in to gank you. If you feel like you're getting pushed too much ward in places that'll make your team defense more effective. However, if it's the other way around and you're in the aggressive you ward their jungle and/or the spots they're most likely to sit in while trying to defend their towers.
I think there are too many good ward spots to remember them all at once, so just look at popular ones (I can go through that with you, should take about 5-10minutes) and after that it's all about playing more and experience which wards work depending on the situation you're dealing with.
